Sampling the Wild Life of Your Body
Samples shown in our collections came from a variety of “sampling events,” In among these samples are a the species that grow on some of our very favorite science writers, species that grow on visitors to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and species that grow on researchers who work in the department of biology at NC State University. Q-tip swabs from ALL of our donors are grown on agar media plates. 100x dillutions – to understand how many bacteria were on the q-tip, multiply by 100. To find your personal sample, refer to the sample number you received in an e-mail and browse through the sampling event collection that you participated in. Along the way, explore the galleries and enjoy the diversity of life that calls our belly buttons home.
